Equipment

  • Slow Cooker (5–6 quart)
  • cutting board
  • instant-read thermometer
  • tongs
  • Fine-Mesh Sieve (optional for gravy)

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Boneless turkey breast, thawed
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, sliced
  • 0.5 cup Chicken broth
  • 1.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Poultry seasoning

Instructions

  • Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels. Season it generously with salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning.
  • Place the sliced onion in the bottom of a greased 5–6 quart slow cooker. Pour the chicken broth over the onions.
  • Place the seasoned turkey breast on top of the onions. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 hours, or until the thickest part reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Remove the turkey immediately and transfer to a cutting board. Tent loosely with foil and let rest for 20 minutes.
  • Slice the turkey into 1/4-inch slices. Spoon some of the flavorful broth and onions over the top before serving.

Notes

Gravy Shortcut: Strain the slow cooker drippings into a saucepan. Bring to a simmer. Whisk 1 tbsp cornstarch with 1 tbsp cold water and stir into the simmering drippings until thickened.
Flavor Options: Add 3–4 smashed garlic cloves for deeper flavor. For crispy skin, broil the cooked turkey breast for 3–5 minutes. For a sweet glaze, brush turkey with 2 tbsp maple syrup mixed with 1 tsp Dijon mustard before cooking.
Serving Tip: Perfect for small gatherings or when oven space is limited on Thanksgiving day.
