Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • sharp knife
  • cutting board
  • small star-shaped cookie cutter
  • serving bowl

Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh strawberries sliced
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 2 Pink Lady or Fuji apples
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar optional
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • fresh mint leaves optional garnish
  • whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving optional

Instructions

  • Rinse the strawberries under cold water, pat dry, remove the tops, and slice them evenly.
  • Rinse the blueberries under cold water and pat them dry thoroughly.
  • Slice the apples into flat slices approximately 1/4 inch thick, avoiding the core.
  • Use a small star-shaped cookie cutter to cut stars from each apple slice.
  • Toss the apple stars with fresh lemon juice to prevent browning if not serving immediately.
  • Combine the strawberries and blueberries in a large serving bowl.
  • Sprinkle the fruit lightly with granulated sugar if desired and toss gently to coat.
  • Arrange the apple stars over the top of the fruit salad so they remain visible and decorative.
  • Chill the fruit salad for at least 15 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with fresh mint if desired and serve cold with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream on the side.

Notes

For the freshest appearance, toss the apple stars in lemon juice immediately after cutting to prevent browning. Serve chilled for the best texture and flavor. Add whipped cream or vanilla ice cream on the side for a richer dessert option.
