Crockpot Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

steel-cut oats

milk
dairy or non-dairy

water

apples, cored and diced
Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala

ground cinnamon

ground nutmeg

brown sugar

Instructions
Grease
the inside of a 3- to 4-quart crockpot generously with nonstick spray.
Add
the diced apples to the bottom of the crock, then sprinkle the cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and salt over them.
Pour
the steel-cut oats over the apples in an even layer, then pour the milk and water on top. Do not stir.
Cover
and cook on LOW for 7 to 8 hours, without lifting the lid, until the oats are tender and creamy.
Stir
well before serving, and add a splash of extra milk if you like it looser.
Notes
Refrigerate up to 5 days or freeze up to 3 months. Reheat with a splash of milk, stovetop or microwave.
